【基地班课程】开学第一课 | Cornelius B.Pratt：Intersection of U.S.Law——in

2019年3月16日，美国天普大学克莱因传媒学院教授Cornelius B.Pratt受邀莅临西北政法大学新闻与传播学院，在致知楼406教室为卓越法新复合型人才培养创新实践班和卓越新闻传媒人才培养创新实践班的同学们带来了以Intersection of U.S.Law——in the Media为主题的精彩讲座。新闻传播学院学院梁珂老师主持了本次讲座。
讲座伊始，Pratt教授通过与同学们进行互动来引入本次讲座的话题。他以“culture”一词为切入点，结合案件“Couple Tried to divorce 6 months after wedding”里西方法庭制度的特点，让同学们从自身经历出发，解读一幅包含着不同文化语境的图表，展示了中西方语言含义的差异。
At the beginning, professor Pratt introduced the topic of this lecture by interacting with students. With the word "culture" as pointcut, combining the characteristics of the Western court system in the case "Couple Tried to divorce 6 months after wedding", he asked the students to interpret a chart containing different cultural contexts from their own experiences so as to understand the differences between Chinese and Western language meanings.
随后， Pratt教授用具体的研究案例为大家阐释了美国法律与媒体中的关键因素。以《Full episode》为例，同学们发现了美国法庭制度的特点：美国法庭制度并不像中国那样肃穆，它呈现着“对抗性、可调节性、公开性”等特点。为了方便同学理解美国法律与媒体的关系，Pratt教授从直播节目、法律学术的评论主体、媒体人员的来源、大众传媒在美国的受欢迎程度、媒体报道中法律与不平等的恶性关系、法律中不平等问题的焦点六大方面为我们做了详细展示。期间，同学们多次就讲义内容向教授提问，教授热情地向大家答疑。在最后，教授为我们强调了法律与新闻结合的重要意义以及如何保证报道中视角客观内容全面等一系列问题。
Subsequently, professor Pratt with specific case studies to illustrate the key factors in the American law and media. Taking Full episode as an example, the students found out the characteristics of the American court system: the American court system was not as solemn as China's, but featured with "antagonism, adjustability and openness". In order to help students to understand the legal relations with the media, Pratt professor from live TV, legal academic reviews the main body, the source of the media personnel, the popularity of mass media in the United States, reported in the press law and malignant relations of inequality, the focus of legal inequality in six aspects for us to do the details. During this period, students asked the professor questions about the contents of the lecture notes for many times, and the professor answered questions to them enthusiastically. In the end, the professor emphasized for us the significance of combining law with news and how to ensure the objective perspective and comprehensive content in the report.
下午17时，师生合影留念，本次讲座活动圆满结束。
嘉宾简介：
Cornelius B. Pratt ，美国天普大学克莱因传媒学院的教授，研究领域包括国家和区域发展传播、国际和战略传播、危机管理传播。博士毕业于美国明尼苏达大学双城校区，是浙江传媒学院话语与通信科学委员会研究中心和非洲公共关系协会理事会成员。现已出版两本学术著作以及发表多达68篇期刊文章。
